How do I use StudioDrop?

StudioDrop Go (iPhone / iPad): tap the photo area, pick images from your library, choose a background and shape, then tap Process. Results save to a “StudioDrop” album in Photos.

StudioDrop (Mac): drag a folder of photos into the window (or click browse), choose where to save, then click Process.

Where did my processed photos go?

On iPhone and iPad they’re saved to a “StudioDrop” album in your Photos app. On Mac they go to the output folder you chose — click “Open output folder in Finder” after a batch finishes.

Some cutouts aren’t perfect — why?

Results depend on the source photo. StudioDrop replaces and enhances the background, but it needs a clean edge to find. The setup that works every time:

Good, even light. Daylight near a window is ideal — avoid harsh direct sun and deep shadows.
A plain, contrasting backdrop. A plain table and a plain backdrop is all you need. Many sellers shoot on a white table against a white backdrop.
Contrast between item and background. Dark items on a light backdrop, pale items on something darker — similar tones are the main cause of imperfect cutouts.
One item, filling most of the frame. Hands, props and stands get treated as part of the product.
Steady and sharp. Tap the item on screen to focus before shooting.

The full guide is built into the app — tap the “?” button any time.

What aspect ratio should I use?

Most reselling platforms prefer square 1:1, which is the default. You can also pick portrait (4:5, 3:4), tall (2:3), vertical (9:16) or landscape (4:3, 16:9) depending on where you’re listing. The long edge is always 2000 pixels, so quality never drops.

Is there a subscription or credit system?

No. StudioDrop isn’t a cloud service, so there’s nothing to meter. It’s a one-time purchase with unlimited use, and no account is required.

What image formats are supported?

In: HEIC (straight from iPhone), JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and BMP. Out: JPG for solid-colour backgrounds, PNG when you choose a transparent background.

Does it change my original photos?

Never. Processed copies are saved separately; your originals are untouched.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Everything runs on your device. The apps make no network connections and work fully offline.

What are the system requirements?

iPhone and iPad: iOS 17 or later. Mac: macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon.
